Is one of the most famous miles in Britain, where you can have a laugh a minute. Why not put one of the hats on with an outrageous slogan. You can get some of the latest jokes and novelty items, and have a real laugh with your friends. Blackpool has lost its image of the past and most of the action today is held in many luxury arcades like the famous Coral Island, Funland and Oasis.
It also encompasses some of Blackpool's most famous attractions including Blackpool Tower, the piers, the Sea Life Centre, Louis Tussauds, Ripleys Believe It or Not Museum, Alien Connection, the Superbowl and RNLI lifeboat visitor centre.
Louis Tusaud's Waxworks is perhaps known throughout the world. It enables you to mix with anyone who is, or was, anyone, including the rich, famous and even infamous.
Blackpool though is an icon. It's a slice of English culture that everyone should experience and it's here you'll find not one but THREE magnificent, historical piers, each one famous in its own right. All of them have been imaginatively upgraded over the years and they are amongst the resort's finest attractions.
North Pier is renowned for its top-class seasonal show, its theatre, restaurants, bars, shops and amusements as well as being Blackpool's favourite sunbathing spot.
Central Pier has a superb Big Wheel - a huge success with the holidaymakers, as well as a fabulous showbar, shops, kiddies amusements and arcades.
South Pier is a popular attraction for the whole family with its spectacular rides and pink circus-marquee style frontage.
This section of the sea front is by far the most popular with tourists and extends roughly from the North to the South Pier. It is right in the middle of all of Blackpool's most famous attractions. It is extremely safe for bathing and ample warning of high tides is given, at which time access to the beach is prevented.
The golden sands are favourite of children who never tire of the favourite seaside activity of sandcastle building and hunting for sea life under the piers.
The Blackpool Illuminations will be switched-on on Friday 30th August, and will run until Sunday 3rd November.
The full list of switch-on times for the season will be published here as soon as it has been confirmed.
