zoo.jpgBlackpool Zoo - Just two miles from the famous sea-front, Blackpool Zoo provides a home to over 400 animals from all over the world. The zoo boasts collections of lions, tigers, elephants and gorillas, as well as a host of smaller and less well known animals.

In addition, it also boasts some of the most exciting visitor attractions, including Gorilla Mountain - the UK's most exciting Gorilla close encounter and the state-of-the-art "Swimulator", which allows you to ride with the dolphins.

Miniature Railway - Treat yourselves to a ride on the train which travels from a station near the main entrance tothe far side of the Zoo. The track runs through a beautiful woodland setting and offers views of some of our animals.

Children's Zoo - A chance for our young visitors to touch and maybe even feed our domestic animals.

Play Area - Located near the Ape House and specially designed to allow children to let off steam whilst the neighbouring orang-utans have a leisurely time on their climbing apparatus. Please ensure that your children are supervised in this area.

wintergardens.jpgBlackpool's Winter Gardens, includes Europe's largest theatre the Opera House, and plays host to conferences, prestigious ballroom dance competitions and entertainment whilst the Tower Ballroom, within Blackpool Towercomplex, offers regular ballroom dancing daytime and evening.

The Empress Ballroom, the jewel in the Wintergardens' crown, was opened in 1897. The vast sweep of the barrel vaulted ceiling with its frescos and gilded plaster creates a breath-taking environment for any event. It will hold up to 3,000 people and is fully adapted to cater for the disabled. The Empress Ballroom interlinks with offices, meeting rooms (ideal for seminars and group meetings), bars and refrehment areas.

The Horseshoe is a graceful, semi-circular promenade. At its centre is the Pavilion - a supreme example of Victorian stage architecture which is now converted for banqueting, concerts, dinner-dances or conferences. The partitions dividing the Pavilion and the Horseshoe may be folded back to create a spacious exhibition area with access to the Arena and the main exhibition hall, Olympia.

Art deco decoration leads to Victoria St. and an amusement arcade shown below.
